The Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance (SCFBA) was a lead sponsor of last week’s Farm Bill Summit in Washington, D.C. Hosted by top agriculture media outlet Agri-Pulse, all four House and Senate Agriculture Committee principals, including Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Pat Roberts (R-KS), Ranking Member Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), House Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Conaway (R-TX), and Ranking Democrat Collin Peterson (D-MN), headlined the summit, offering their insights on key issues impacting America’s agriculture economy, as well as the entire U.S. economy. Throughout the summit, expert panels discussed top specialty crop sector concerns, including nutrition policy, risk management, research, and how to bring the next generation of agricultural leaders back to the farm.
United Fresh has successfully led SCFBA through four Farm Bill reauthorizations, and will continue to do so over the next two years, working to secure programs and policies in the 2018 Farm Bill that are critical to the fresh fruit and vegetable industry.
