Buyers From Nations’ Largest School Districts Convened at United Fresh 2016
More than 50 leading K-12 school foodservice directors from across the country gathered in Chicago during United Fresh 2016 for “The Produce Forum for School Success,” the only program designed to connect the produce industry with top school foodservice directors. This unique program assists schools with the overall produce purchasing experience, advancing the dialogue about the products and services schools need most. As part of The Produce Forum, the Foundation also hosted “The Fresh Festival for School Foodservice.” This event enables the school foodservice directors to interact with produce leaders showcasing their convenient fresh-cut options for schools, as well as unique single-serve fresh fruit and veggie snacks. In addition, the school nutrition leaders heard from Dr. Katie Wilson, USDA Deputy Undersecretary for Child Nutrition Programs on how the USDA is supporting schools’ efforts to serve more fresh produce. The directors also received a tour of the trade show floor.
