Food safety is the most important issue in the produce industry. While science tells us that zero risk is an unattainable statistic, every day our industry drives harder to ensure that the fresh produce we deliver to consumers is as safe and healthy as possible. To this end, United Fresh works with our members on food safety research initiatives, legislative and regulatory issues, product recall and crisis management training, outbreak analysis and more.
In any foodborne illness outbreak situation, the association’s goals are to:
- Act in the public’s best interest
- Minimize damage to the industry by providing members with timely information
- Facilitate recovery
- Provide industry guidance on how to prevent future outbreaks
