International Member Support

The United Fresh International Advisory Council was formed to assist in understanding member needs, identifying challenges and opportunities for members in the international arena, and delivering enhanced value to members in the global produce community. The Council, chaired by Board member David Barney, Business Development Manager at Bakkavor in the United Kingdom, held its first meeting concurrent with the Fruit Logistica and FreshConex trade show and Congress in Berlin, Germany, February 6-9, 2008. “United Fresh is committed to serving a growing international membership throughout the global fresh produce industry,” Lazopoulos said. “With the merger of the International Fresh-cut Produce Association and the United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association last year, we brought together members in 27 countries that now constitute 10 percent of our membership from outside the United States. We believe this is an important constituency to serve, and are already increasing our outreach programs in key areas,” he said. For more information about the Council and potential service in the international arena, contact Jeff Oberman, Vice President, Trade Relations at (831) 422-0940.

United Fresh, FRESHCONEX, and FRUIT LOGISTICA Educational Congress, Februry 2008

With the February 2008 launch of the new FRESHCONEX trade fair by Messe Berlin GmbH, Eurofruit Magazine organized a new, corresponding FRESHCONEX Congress in cooperation with United Fresh Produce Association. This new educational event focused on the fresh-cut, convenience produce industry, held February 6, 2008 on the eve of the FRUIT LOGISTICA and FRESHCONEX exhibitions.

United Fresh Produce Association has member companies in more than 30 countries around the world, including a large group in Europe, who were also members of the International Fresh-cut Produce Association before our merger. IFPA traditionally held member meetings in Europe, and in fall 2006 we attracted 180 delegates from 18 countries to our Fresh-Cut Europe Conference in London.

The opportunity to work together with Eurofruit Magazine and Messe Berlin to support a new fresh-cut Congress annually with FRESHCONEX and FRUIT LOGISTICA adds value to United Fresh members in Europe and around the world.

The FRESHCONEX trade fair, including both the Congress and the Exhibition, focuses on the special needs of the fresh-cut value added sector and serves as an international networking event for business professionals interested in this market sector. This new program in Europe complements the United FreshTech Show and educational conference in North America, and helps us continue to assist member companies compete in the global environment.
