United Fresh has teamed up with the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP) and the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) to produce the first in a series of webinars providing details about the FDA’s proposed Produce Rule under the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The webinars offer insights and analysis of the draft FSMA rule from FDA, university experts, and United Fresh food safety leaders and legal counsel.

FDA’s Proposed FSMA Produce Rule Webinar: Learn from the Experts
Thursday, February 7: 11:00 am-12:30 pm EST / 8:00-9:30 am PST
This webinar, in partnership with the IAFP, covered the proposed Produce Rule and is free of charge. Featured speakers on the webinar were:

Produce Safety Standards: FDA and Industry Expert Insights Webinar

This webinar, in partnership with the IFT, will cover the proposed Produce Rule. “FDA’s Proposed FSMA Preventive Controls: Learn from FDA and Industry Experts” Webinar
Friday, February 15: 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm ET 

United Fresh continued the review of the proposed rules under Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) with a webinar dedicated to the Preventive Controls Rule. Recorded on Friday, February 15, this webinar featured in-depth look at the proposed rule, including how the requirements, exemptions and implementation will affect the fresh produce industry. Featured speakers:

  • Jenny Scott, Senior Advisor, Office of Food Safety, FDA CFSAN
  • David Durkin, Legal Counsel, OFW Law

The proposed Preventive Controls Rule would apply to many domestic and foreign firms that manufacture, process, pack or hold human food. These firms would be required to have written plans that identify hazards, specify the steps that will be put in place to minimize or prevent those hazards, identify monitoring procedures and record monitoring results and specify what actions will be taken to correct problems that arise.
