As part of the FMI lettuce and leafy greens safety conference, United Fresh participated in a committee meeting to help evaluate how the produce industry and retailers can help ensure compliance with produce food safety best practices. Dr. Jim Gorny, United Fresh senior vice president of food safety and technology, joined more than 20 produce industry and retail representatives at the FMI Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Produce Technical Sub-Committee meeting, which followed the FMI conference in Phoenix, AZ. "This was an tremendous starting point for robust discussions among produce buyers and sellers on how to best achieve compliance on best practices, reduce auditing redundancy, and enhance overall produce safety and quality," said Gorny.
