Congress Returns Next Week to Complete Work for 109th Congress
December 1, 2006
Congress will be returning to session next week in an attempt to finish the remaining work for the 109th Congress. This includes appropriation legislation, trade related agreements, offshore drilling legislation, and tax legislation. At the time of this publication, it is uncertain if any of this work will be completed, thus requiring Congress to pass a continuing resolution which will fund the government into next year and push major policy issues until the new 110th Congress is sworn in. "While we are hopeful and prepared to move a number of our year-end priorities, it seems there are limited opportunities to make any major legislative pushes due to a very narrow agenda next week," said Robert Guenther, senior vice president of government affairs for United Fresh.
