For Immediate Release: Media Contact: Amy Philpott, 202 303 3425
Washington, DC (January 29, 2008) - The United Fresh Research & Education Foundation is hosting an additional Training for a Recall, Communicating Under Fire on April 2-4 at the Hilton Phoenix Airport in Arizona. This two-day training provides the fundamentals of a product recall and the elements of a crisis communication plan to make sure a produce recall team knows how to respond in the event of a recall.
“The Phoenix course was added after the San Francisco course sold out and the wait list kept growing,” said Amy Philpott, vice president of marketing and industry relations at United Fresh. “The industry has shown a sincere interest in these courses because they are hands-on and very practical. People walk away with knowledge and skills that they can put to use the very next day.”
Training for a Recall, Communicating Under Fire is a multi-part course, including a two-day workshop, April 2-3, on how to prevent a product recall from becoming a crisis and a half day of media training. The first part of the course emphasizes the legal liability and implications of a recall, the role of testing in the decision making process, the importance of traceability and how to apply a crisis plan to product recall situations.
The second part, April 4, includes training by communications and public affairs specialists on how to deliver messages under the pressure of a real-life interview. To ensure each attendee will have an opportunity to experience on-camera mock media interviews, the class size for the half-day media training is limited to sixteen attendees and requires a separate registration.
For additional registration and housing information, including group discounts, contact United Fresh Education Manager Beth Berman at bberman@unitedfresh.org or 202-303-3405.
