United Fresh launched its new Town Hall Meeting campaign this week at the Hunts Point Market in New York City and the Philadelphia Regional Produce Market. “These events brought together members across the supply chain, state officials and allied industry professionals to learn about and discuss the current business, legislative, food safety, regulatory, traceability and cold-chain issues impacting the produce industry,” said United Fresh Vice President of Trade Relations Jeff Oberman. United Fresh Senior Vice President of Public Policy Robert Guenther and Senior Vice President of Science and Technology Dr. David Gombas each spoke about the latest issues impacting produce in public policy and food safety. “Like politicians returning to their districts, United Fresh staff returns from these Regional Town Hall Meetings with great insight on the challenges faced by member operations and how United Fresh can best serve the needs of our membership in specific regions,” said Guenther. Special thanks to our member hosts and representatives: Matthew D’Arrigo, D’Arrigo Brothers Company of New York, Inc.; Al Murray, New Jersey Department of Agriculture; Louis Penza, Jr., Pinto Brothers, Inc.; Joseph Procacci, Procacci Brothers Sales Corp.; Chuck Zambito, Zambito Produce Sales. Later this month, United Fresh will hold Town Hall meetings in Yakima, WA on Tuesday, December 18th and Wenatchee, WA on Wednesday, December 19th. For more information contact Jeff Oberman at 831-422-0940.
