In a letter to the President this week, the National Council of Agriculture Employers (NCAE) outlined key recommendations for administrative reforms to the current H-2A guestworker program.  The letter is in response to an earlier meeting with the White House and other administration officials, during which the Administration requested recommendations to streamline the H-2A program.  "The goal of these suggestions is to make the H-2A program more useable for agricultural employers who may have their labor supply threatened as a result of the recently promulgated Social Security Administration "no-match" rulemaking," the letter stated.  Autumn Veazey, United Fresh's director of legislative affairs and associate counsel, serves on NCAE's H2-A and H2-B technical committees.  "The goal is to have these H-2A administrative reforms in place by the fall, prior to the winter harvest season," said Veazey. "Since immigration reform has been blocked by some political leaders, the H-2A program is an important part of the industry's efforts to address its need for a reliable labor force."  For more information on how to support United Fresh and its immigration policy priorities, visit our Immigration Resource Center or contact Autumn Veazey, 202-303-3427.
