This week, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Cal) told constituents that she would urge Congress to address her AgJobs bill one more time before the legislative calendar ends.  With only a few months left before the year end, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev) promised Senator Feinstein that he would help pass an agricultural guest-worker bill this year, and that he would do everything he could to incorporate the AgJobs package into the larger farm bill. "This is the single most important issue facing our industry right now," said Autumn Veazey, United Fresh director of legislative affairs, associate counsel.  "Our Senate champions are providing us with another opportunity to resolve our labor issue, and we simply cannot afford to let this opportunity slip away." The Senate is scheduled to take up the farm bill as early as the week of September 11th.   Support for AgJobs will be a top priority during the Washington Public Policy Conference (WPPC), September 12-14.  Register for WPPC today and shape the future of agricultural labor in our country.  For more information, contact Autumn Veazey or Robert Guenther, senior vice president of public policy, at 202-303-3400.
