August 3, 2007
In a press release this week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced new voluntary standards for state regulatory agencies that inspect FDA-regulated facilities. The new Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards are intended to make the inspections more uniform and consistent. The Standards include best practices for staff training, inspection, quality assurance, food defense preparedness and response, food borne illness and incident investigations, enforcement, education and outreach, resource management, laboratory resources, and program assessment.
