After tremendous pressure from supporters of comprehensive immigration reform, Senate leaders agreed last night to bring the compromise bill back to the Senate floor for further debate and vote, perhaps as soon as next week.  "Majority Leader Reid (D-NV), Minority Leader McConnell (R-KY) and President Bush all deserve support for pushing to bring this issue back for a vote, rather than walking away from the tough decisions," said United President Tom Stenzel.  Stenzel joined other immigration reform supporters at a White House meeting earlier today with Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow and other Administration officials to discuss strategy for passing the reform bill.  "We have to keep up the pressure, and I'd ask every United Fresh member to call or email their Senator within the next few days, urging them to support the immigration reform bill.  Secretary Chertoff and Mr. Snow were direct in asking for every company facing the challenge of finding a legal workforce to harvest, pack and process fruits and vegetables to call their Senators today.  Our message is simple – pass the compromise bill now."  For more information, contact Robert Guenther at (202) 303-3409.
