United Fresh Chairman Emanuel Lazopoulos, Del Monte Fresh Produce, met with the Board of Directors of the Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association (FFVA) today to discuss food safety issues facing the produce industry. "I really appreciated the invitation from FFVA Chairman Jay Taylor and President Mike Stuart to join their Board for this discussion," Lazopoulos said. "We work closely together on many issues with FFVA, and none are more important to get right than food safety.  A mutually supportive and open dialogue among Board leaders across our industry is essential to driving a united voice for our industry," he said.  Lazopoulos also thanked FFVA Chairman Jay Taylor and FFVA Board member Alan Temple for their service on the United Fresh Board, helping ensure a strong perspective from Florida in national and international deliberations.
