United Fresh Partners in New FRESHCONEX
Educational Congress
at 2008 FRUIT LOGISTICA in Berlin

Palm Springs, Calif. - United Fresh Produce Association announced today that it will partner with key business allies in Europe to help develop an annual educational program focused on the fresh-cut, convenience produce industry.

With the February 2008 launch of the new FRESHCONEX trade fair by Messe Berlin GmbH, Eurofruit Magazine will organize a new, corresponding FRESHCONEX Congress in cooperation with United Fresh Produce Association. This new education event will be held February 6, 2008 on the eve of the FRUIT LOGISTICA and FRESHCONEX exhibitions.

"United Fresh Produce Association has member companies in more than 30 countries around the world, including a large group in Europe, who were also members of the International Fresh-cut Produce Association before our merger," said United Fresh Executive Vice President Jerry Welcome. "IFPA traditionally held member meetings in Europe, and last fall, we attracted some 180 delegates from 18 countries to our Fresh-Cut Europe Conference in London. The opportunity to work together with Eurofruit Magazine and Messe Berlin to support a new fresh-cut Congress annually with FRESHCONEX and FRUIT LOGISTICA will really add value to United Fresh members in Europe and around the world," he said.

"By combining Messe Berlin’s expertise in trade shows, Market Intelligence and Eurofruit’s expertise in organizing conferences and United Fresh Produce Association’s expertise in the science and technical "know how" of fresh-cut produce, we believe we are offering our attendees an unparalleled opportunity to come together and see and learn from some of the best in the world," added Gérald Lamusse, Global Brand Manager, FRUIT LOGISTICA.

The FRESHCONEX trade fair, including both the Congress and the Exhibition, will focus on the special needs of the fresh-cut value added sector and will serve as an international networking event for business professionals interested in this market sector.

"The marketplace for fresh, convenient, ready-to-eat produce is one of the fastest growing categories in the food sector. From seed selection, harvesting, processing, transporting and retailing fresh-cut produce products represent unique challenges and opportunities. We believe by working together we can deliver a program that meets the needs of this audience and helps to strengthen the marketplace for value-added produce throughout the world," said Chris White, Publisher of Eurofruit Magazine.

"The fresh produce business is truly an international industry, with a strong need to share business and technical information, education on best practices, and knowledge about consumer needs and desires with colleagues around the world," said United Fresh Board member David Barney, Bakkavor, United Kingdom. "This new program in Europe will complement our United FreshTech Show and educational conference in North America, and help us continue to help member companies compete in the global environment." Joining Barney in celebrating the new international initiative at FreshTech were fellow international Board members Robin Poynton, One Harvest, Australia; and Alessandro Turatti, Turatti, Inc., Italy.
