Over the past month, NBC has featured a series of Farm to Fork food safety segments, focusing on different agricultural industries including meat and produce. The segment on produce aired this morning on NBC's Today Show. The segment told a positive story about industry's efforts to keep produce safe, and it also provided consumers with safe produce handling guidelines from the www.fightbac.org website. "From the Today's Show's first call in January, I felt the producers really wanted to understand the measures our industry takes to ensure the safety of our products," said Amy Philpott, United Fresh vice president of marketing and industry relations. "We provided background information and talked through the overall process for producing fresh-cut leafy greens. PMA and the Alliance for Food and Farming did a great job in arranging for the show to interview representatives of Taylor Farms, and we really appreciate Taylor Farms' openness to show their operations."
