Industry leaders spent the week at Cornell University fine-tuning their leadership and management skills at the first United Fresh Produce Executive Development Course. Developed in partnership with Cornell, the program kicked off with an overview of produce strategy and retail industry directions and continued throughout the week with sessions ranging from negotiation and conflict skills, to food industry strategies and leading change. Participants took a hands-on approach to learning during the program by examining retail case studies, visiting retail stores in the region and participating in a supply chain simulation exercise. Guest speakers included Wendy Barth, Rich Products; Patrick Bourcy, Wegmans; and Jim Prevor, Produce Business. "The range and caliber of leaders represented in our inaugural program was truly exceptional," said Victoria Kuhns, United Fresh senior vice president, member services. "The questions, discussion and interaction among the attendees during the week truly demonstrated the executive level of thinking and development that took place."
