This week, United Fresh provided quality assurance personnel from the restaurant industry with an update on the produce industry's progress in revising "best practices" recommendations for the lettuce and leafy greens industry. United Fresh Senior Vice President of Food Safety & Technology Dr. Jim Gorny participated in an expert panel at the National Restaurant Association (NRA) Quality Assurance Executive Study Group Produce Food Safety Meeting, to update attendees on current and future actions underway to enhance the safety of lettuce and leafy greens. Conference attendees included university researchers, fresh-cut processors, distributors, and foodservice technical experts. "This meeting provided an excellent opportunity for numerous stakeholders from farm to fork to discuss and coordinate the ongoing actions and activities regarding the safety of lettuce and leafy greens," said Dr. Gorny.
