More than 20 nutrition and public health organizations met at United Fresh headquarters on Thursday to discuss nutrition priorities for the 2007 Farm Bill. United Fresh Vice President of Nutrition and Health Dr. Lorelei DiSogra hosted the luncheon meeting for members of the national Alliance for Nutrition and Activity. Also participating in the discussion of Farm Bill nutrition priorities were Derek Miller, majority professional staff, Senate Ag Committee; Anne Cannon, Office of Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-CA); and Karen Williams, Office of Rep. Adam Putnam (R-FL). "Reshaping farm policy to more closely align with current dietary guidelines is a top priority for the public health community," Dr. DiSogra said. "We believe this is a key strategy to reducing childhood obesity and improving our children's health." For more information, contact Dr. DiSogra at (202) 303-3403.
