A New Year's Message From United Fresh President Tom Stenzel
December 29, 2006
I know that for many of us, 2006 comes to a close with sigh of relief as much as a celebration. Our industry has been facing some of our most difficult challenges ever, and the pace this fall has been withering for many of us. But while 2006 brought unexpected challenges, it also brought a profound sense of commitment and resolve of purpose to work even harder to deliver consumers an abundant supply of safe, healthy and great-tasting fresh fruits and vegetables. I've often said this produce industry is a labor of love - otherwise no one could keep smiling and overcome the amazing hurdles you face everyday. That's never been more true, and that fact alone brightens my spirit as we look ahead to 2007. So, take a deep breath and embrace the lessons we've learned in 2006; but look to the New Year with unshaken confidence and enthusiasm for the journey ahead. We are blessed to be part of an industry that helps feed the world, and a bountiful opportunity awaits us.
