United Fresh Produce Association (United Fresh) represents the produce supply chain and took its name as a result of the September 2006 merger of the United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association and the International Fresh-Cut Association. Today, United Fresh reflects the combined memberships, visions and values of both organizations.
Founded in 1904, the former United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association's (United) promoted the growth and success of produce companies and their partners. United was the national trade organization that represents the interests of growers, shippers, processors, brokers, wholesalers and distributors of produce, working together with their customers at retail and foodservice, suppliers at every step in the distribution chain, and international partners. For over a hundred years United members provided the leadership to shape business, trade and public policies that drive our industry. Working with thousands of industry members, United provided a fair and balanced forum to promote business solutions; helps build strong partnerships among all segments of the industry, promotes increased produce consumption; and provides scientific and technical expertise essential to competing effectively in today's marketplace.
Founded in 1987, the former International Fresh-Cut Produce Association (IFPA) served approximately 500 company members, including processors, distributors, retail and food service buyers of fresh-cut produce, as well as companies that supply goods and services to the fresh-cut industry. IFPA members ranged from well-known industry giants with nationwide distribution to vital, regional processors of fresh-cut salads, fruits and vegetables, and included commercial producers, suppliers and distributors of fresh-cut produce as well as affiliated companies such as equipment and packaging manufacturers.
Representing leaders in the fresh-cut produce industry worldwide who specialized in today's fastest-growing fresh food category, IFPA provided members with competitive advantages through networking, advocacy, guidelines, forums and expertise focused exclusively on the fresh-cut produce industry.
